Today is National Dog Day. Which is celebrated by dog lovers everywhere this year on August 26th since 2004!
The main purpose is to celebrate our beloved dogs and to also highlight some of the issues affecting them.
It celebrates all dogs, breeds, mixed or pure. Everyone has their favourite and this day recognizes them all, whatever they may be.
Dogs as well as providing us with companionship help in many areas of life. Including law enforcement, rescues, aid for the disabled as well as many other field.
Just as they help us it is important to also highlight and help those dogs in need. Especially those without homes and families. Dog overpopulation is a massive crisis and this day highlights the need for action.
It promotes responsible ownership and encouragement of adoption rom local shelters and rescues. It is about showing love for those abandoned and unwanted. So lets celebrate this day by showing love to our best friends!
