National Specially-Abled Pets Day

May 3rd every year is recognized as National Specially-abled Pets Day. A day recognized worldwide it celebrates and appreciated the specially-abled pets. It was formerly known as Disabled Pets Day, however Colleen Paige, the founder decided to change the name. It did not seem to fit and was seen as negative, as many of these amazing animals were very much abled, just had unique challenges they faced and overcame every single day.

So this day recognizes these heroes amongst us and hopes to raise awareness around their situation. With better education and understanding we can improve the situation and make things better. There are many animals including dogs that have either been born or through injury have become disabled. However they have shown great courage to overcome the challenges faced.

Today I have an uplifting story with you to share, so less reading and instead watch the clip below.

Here is a dog that had no chance of a good life as it had no front paws or was even told it could not lie down on her chest. Watch and see how this inspiration dog countered adversity to lead a full happy life even learning to walk upright.

Hope you enjoy and share with others. Will certain give you an emotional uplift for the day.
