Following on from our top 10 breeds in the US, last times, today we have the top 10 dog breeds from across the pond in the UK.

The Kennel Club has surveyed and listed the following as the top 10 breeds in the UK:
- Labrador Retriever
- Cocker Spaniel
- French Bulldog
- Pug
- English Springer Spaniel
- Bulldog
- German Shepherd Dog
- Golden Retriever
- Miniature Schnauzer
- Border Terrier
No surprises on the number 1 as the Labrador Retriever is the most popular dog and loved by all. Like the USA it has been number 1 for over 2 decades, closing in on 27 year!
The biggest stir in the UK is that the French Bulldog has been rising at an alarming rate. It is expected to actually bring an end to the Labrador Retriever’s top spot very soon. The last time another breed was number 1 was way back in 1990 when the Yorkshire Terrier occupied the top spot. It is no longer even in the top 10!
Although it is exciting to see another breed becoming popular, experts are warning that it may be due to a fad and celebrity culture. Many celebrities are posting pictures of their Frenchies online on social media such as David Beckham and Lady Gaga. This has led to a rise in popularity, so experts do advise you get your dog based on your own personal needs and not the latest fashion trend.
